1.  More than 15.4 million new vehicles will be purchased or leased in the U.S. this year. This is a one million increase from 2012. (National Automobile Dealers Association) 

2. Sending or receiving texts takes the driver’s eyes off the road for an average of 4.6 seconds. That can be compared to driving the entire length of a football field, blind, at 55mph.

3. There are more than 1,700 fatalities and 840,000 injuries a year due to vehicle crashes on America’s highways. (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration)

4. Auto insurance paid out $117.4 billion in claims during 2011. (Insurance Information Institute)

5. For every 1000 persons in the United States, there is an average of 627 passenger cars. In contrast, the average is 427 in The United Kingdom, 472 in Norway, and 2 in Bangladesh. (The World Bank)
